Socio Camp, the nation’s biggest idea generating competition for raising social awareness, has just wrapped up its 10th edition a few days back. North South University Social Services Club is organizing this month-long quest since 2010 with the aim to ideate a revolutionary change in our contemporary society. This inter-university competition creates a platform for the most aspiring minds of the generation to think beyond their curriculum and relate their learning with real-life societal issues. This competition is comprised of three rounds, where the participants are provided with cases based on the distinctive social obstacles that our masses are facing on a prominent basis and on each round the best ideas of all are filtered out.

The First Round Workshop was hosted at the NSU Central Auditorium on 8th November 2019, which was a conventional groom up session for the participants to brush up their case-solving skills better. The very first case of the competition was also revealed on the day which was ‘Women’s Safety Issues in Bangladesh’. After the first round top 30 teams among the 588 teams qualified for the next round by solving the case by using their innovative and ‘out of the box’ approach.

Soon after the results of the first round was revealed, the 2nd round workshop was hosted within NSU premises on 15th November 2019. The speakers of the session, Nayeema Akbar and Sadman Sadik shared some of their past experiences of solving cases. They also shared some tips and tricks on how to ‘win it big’ in these types of competitions. After that, the competition coordinator Mr. Faiz Hossain revealed the 2nd round case of Socio Camp followed by a short question-answer session. The second round was hosted on 23rd November 2019, where the qualifying teams had to present their solutions in front of high corporate officials on how to solve the second round case, which was on incorporating the third gender to the working population.

Finally, the Grand Finale of the month-long quest was hosted on 4th December 2019, with a grand and lavish gesture. The finale was set in motion by the revelation of a star-studded judging panel. Soon after, the teams shared their ideas solving the case – ‘Financial Inclusion towards Socio-Economic Development’ one after another. Through all team member’s impressive presentation skills, they all thrived to get the attention and appreciation of the judging panel. The Grand Finale of the competition was embellished by the presence of the Chief Guest, the honorable Chairman of the Board of Trustees of North South University, Mr. Benajir Ahmed. Afterwards, the names of the winners were revealed by the Director of Student Affairs of NSU Ms. Parisa Shakur. The champion of the competition team, TG TG KPI, was awarded BDT 1,20,000, the first and second runners up were Crystal Ship and Captain Planet who were awarded BDT 70,000 and BDT 40,000 respectively.
